Pluto Reels Film Festival

Last week we launched our very own Pluto Reels Film Festival, where the Social & Digital team tasked the entire agency with creating a reels to the theme of ‘Your City’. Everyone had one week to self-shoot, produce and edit their reel and were only allowed to use Instagram’s native tools. The core idea was born out of providing more exposure to the world of social, create unique content for the agency and discover new things about our colleagues. We had a blast putting it together and went all-out with a screening in the office as well as live voting for a big prize. The team created 17 unique reels in total, ranging from hilarious to aesthetic, and everything in between. As part of everyone’s submission, we asked individuals to provide learnings on the process. Here are the highlights:

  • Making reels is hard and time consuming! A lot of renewed respect for social media managers and creators everywhere.

  • You don’t need high-end production to make something good and unique thanks to native tools and templates.

  • Constantly thinking about content is hard and requires being in that mindset, with teams now having a sharper eye on how content would work on social vs. Other channels.

  • Congratulations to Jenny, our new #ReelsQueen and winner of this year’s festival with her incredible stop motion of putting a puzzle together (cute cat included!).

Check out Jenny’s reel and shout out to the winners of secondary categories that had us aw-ing, burst-out laughing and marvelling at the incredible amount of work everyone put in!

    •Most Aesthetic ✨ – Chantelle Dullaghan
•Most likely to go viral 🚀 – Jenny Whelan
    •Funniest reel 🎭 – Stephen Lee
•Best use of native tools 📲 – a tie between Susan McGing and Ian McCabe
